Stinger 2.0 wetsuit

Swim gear for a good cause

Retired professional triathlete, and Olympian, Rich Allen was inspired by the Florida outdoor lifestyle to launch his own open-water swimming and inflatable paddleboard line, Stingray. “Although I’m not originally from Florida, I have been coming here three or four times a year for 25 years,” Allen said. “Florida means everything to me. St. Anthony’s Triathlon was my first professional race. I met my wife,  Tonya, here, we got married here and many of my closest friends live in St. Pete—we love the outdoor Florida lifestyle. It’s a very unique, and diverse, place.” Allen’s Stingray brand produced its first product, the Stinger 2.0 wetsuit for both men and women. The wetsuit, which features a unique Stingray chest panel, also features Yamamoto neoprene, titanium glide skin coating and Air Tech air pocket technology. Next, he developed inflatable paddleboards with double layer fusion technology. Allen wasn’t the only athlete involved in testing, and developing, products for Stingray. It has partnered with three-time Olympic gold medalist Brooke Bennett to launch her signature brand of goggles and other gear. The Stinger 2.0 wetsuit is priced at $399 and their Fusion-Tech iSUPS $649. Stingray donates 10 percent of its profits to help support marine life conservation. project-stingray.com

Meca-10

Hublot Meca-10 Clock

Working together with the Jura-based L’Epée manufacturer, Hublot has produced an oversized version of its famous Meca-10 manufacture movement for use in a table clock. It had reinvented the manual movement offering peerless performance, as well as a unique style, inspired by the Meccano construction system. The unusual skeleton architecture gives the movement an arresting three-dimensional depth, which is visible through the bridges and case back. Its exceptional 10-day power

reserve—now an imperative for any decent manual caliber—is displayed on a disc that can be read on the dial. Similar to the original, the Hublot Meca-10 Clock is, in essence, an oversized version of its predecessor. Its spacious 19.60-by-18.10 centimeter case houses the precious movement, which comes in two versions. The first features Meccano-inspired angles, and a ring in polished satin-finished steel, and transparent composite. The second is covered with black PVD and the bridges supporting the gear trains are also coated

in black. The notched crown, at 3 o’clock, is rubber-coated for a better grip when manually winding the movement. Like the wristwatch version, from which it takes its inspiration, the Meca-10 clock movement features a 10-day power reserve, which is displayed on an indicator at 6 o’clock. These two editions of the Meca-10 Clock, the fruit of a close collaboration between Hublot and L’Epée, are exclusive, limited edition, pieces reserved for true aficionados. The starting price for the clock is $47,400. hublot.com
