Good riddance: Ways to give 2020 a proper farewell on New Year’s Eve

It’s time to say goodbye to 2020 and, for most of us, it holds a special significance this year.

Whether you decide to venture out, wearing your mask and socially distancing, or you order takeout, here are some ways to celebrate.

First Night St. Petersburg 2021 (Virtual Event)

First Night St. Pete’s Annual New Year’s Eve celebration of the Arts will be virtual this year. The event will have more than 30 performers ranging from musicians, to dance, to aerial performances and interactive art. Ticket packages include all the great in-person highlights of First Night for your evening at home or with a small group of friends for $25 to $100 depending on the package.

Pier Teaki

800 2nd Ave NE 5th Floor, St. Petersburg

Celebrate New Year’s Eve with a rooftop, tropical escape, overlooking Tampa Bay, with panoramic views. Pier Teaki is having a NYE Luau with live entertainment, cocktails, party favors and a midnight champagne toast. No reservations or pre-purchased tickets are needed. The entry cost for the event is $25. (21 and up only). There are reservable VIP spaces available.

Parkshore Grill

300 Beach Drive NE, St. Petersburg

Parkshore Grill has a special menu on New Year’s Eve. The three-course dinner is $85 per person and includes dessert and a champagne toast. There are options to choose from in each course. View the whole menu online.

The Birchwood

340 Beach Dr NE, St. Petersburg

The Birchwood is offering two options to celebrate New Year’s Eve with Bubbles & Bowties in its grand ballroom and a BYE Bash at the rooftop bar The Canopy. This limited capacity NYE bash will feature dinner, and dancing, plus an open bar, live entertainment and a midnight champagne toast. Tickets are $150 and may be reserved by calling 727-317-2844. Tickets for the Canopy event include drink specials, a midnight champagne toast, party favors and live entertainment. These are first come first serve and are $25.

Three Birds Tavern

1492 4th St N, St. Petersburg

Three Birds Tavern is open until 1 a.m. on New Year’s Eve and also offers takeout via their website. If you decide to visit, in person, there’s a dog patio and ample outdoor seating. The restaurant has fantastic wings, vegetarian options and one of the best BLT’s in town. It’s called the “That’s A Lot of Bacon BLT” and trust us when we tell you, it’s A LOT of bacon. There’s also a full bar with a good selection of local beer.

TradeWinds Island Resorts

RumFish Grill, 6000 Gulf Blvd, St Pete Beach

Palm Court Italian Grill, 5500 Gulf Blvd, St Pete Beach

TradeWinds Island Resorts is offering two New Year’s Eve dinner options this year – one at Palm Court Italian Grill, at the Island Grand, and one at RumFish Grill, at the RumFish Beach Resort. Those that decide on the latter option can hang out in the RumFish Grill indoor bar, or connected outdoor patio area, and watch the ball drop, then enjoy a complimentary champagne toast to ring in 2021. Palm Court Italian Grill is offering a Prix Fixe menu while RumFish Grill is offering their regular menu, along with two specials. Call RumFish Grill at 727-329-1428 and Palm Court Grill at 727-363-2358 for reservations.

The Karol Hotel

2675 Ulmerton Road, Clearwater

Vantage Rooftop Bar is inviting guests and locals to bid farewell to 2020, and toast the beginning of 2021, at “Rooftop New Year’s Eve,” a creative culinary celebration atop the 12-story Karol Hotel. For just $195 per adult the all-inclusive, limited ticket event includes an evening of outstanding cuisine, starting with passed hors d’oeuvres, followed by five specialty dishes paired with wine: Colossal Stone Crab, Tuna Tartare, Stuffed Quail, Prime Colorado Lamb Chop and Japanese Wagyu Striploin. The New Year’s feast also includes an intermezzo of mango sorbet, a cheese course, butter cake for dessert and, of course, a champagne toast at midnight. This event is for those of age (21 and older). Advanced reservations are required.

The Godfrey Hotel & Cabanas

WTR Pool & Grill, 7700 W Courtney Campbell Causeway, Tampa

Tampa’s largest outdoor open-air venue, WTR Pool, located at The Godfrey Hotel & Cabanas, is hosting Pied Piper’s NYE 2021 on New Year’s Eve. The event will feature a fireworks display on the bay, various live DJ performances, including DJ Carnage and Nick Hogan, a champagne toast at midnight and VIP cabana packages. General admission is $39 per person and VIP tickets start at $69. To ensure the safety of guests and staff, masks are required for entry at WTR Pool & Grill and The Godfrey Hotel & Cabanas.

The Fenway Hotel

453 Edgewater Drive, Dunedin

HEW Parlor & Chophouse, located inside the historic Fenway Hotel, is offering a four-course prix fixe New Year’s Eve Dinner until 10 PM, with indoor and outdoor seating available. Guests dining at HEW can enjoy a special holiday menu that includes a choice of appetizer, soup or salad, entrée, a side and a dessert. Complimentary parking is available. Reservations for dine-in are suggested by calling 727.254.7256.

La La’s Sangria Bar

203 N Meridian Ave, Tampa

La La’s Sangria Bar is planning a Prince-inspired evening for their Inaugural New Year’s Eve party. The event is scheduled to take place on December 31 from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m. There is no cover charge and free parking is available on a first-come first-serve basis. Drink packages are available for $75 which includes an open bar (but no premium liquor). Guests ringing in the New Year can anticipate a champagne toast at midnight and watching the celebration on their 11 TV’s as an hourly reason to toast to friends abroad, as the shift to 2021 makes its way around the world. Armature Works

1910 N Ola Ave, Tampa

Armature Works’ annual NYE celebrations are back, in support of Feeding Tampa Bay, with protocols in place to help you safely ring in the New Year. During the day the whole family can enjoy the annual Noon Year’s Eve celebrations for kids, including a daytime fireworks display and more, as well as the Evening Riverfront Concert & Fireworks Display. These outdoor, limited capacity events will be ticketed this year and held at less than 50% capacity to adhere to Covid-19 guidelines and social distancing. A portion of all ticket sales will be donated to Feeding Tampa Bay to help those in need in the Tampa Bay area. Attendees must have a ticket to enter the event and masks will be required. The Armature Works Lawns, and Pier, will be fenced off to prevent crowds that do not comply with Covid-19 guidelines.

Straz Riverwalk

1010 N Macinnes Pl, Tampa

Join Tampa Total Request Live (TTRL) hosts, Zachary Hines and Roxanne Gallo, as they usher in the New Year with the help of singer-songwriters Ari Chi, His Hem and Rebekah Pulley and comedian Steve Miller.

Main Street, Downtown Sarasota

Ring in the New Year at Downtown Sarasota Block Party and Pineapple Drop Celebration. The party kicks off on December 31 at 1:00 p.m. There will be amusement rides, and games, in 5 Point Park; live music at Main Street and Lemon, with food and drinks, and end with a fireworks display, on Sarasota Bay, hosted by the Sarasota Downtown Enrichment Association.

Grand Cru Wine Bar
