►The Farmhouse, a furniture, home décor and doughnut shop, opened its first location in Sarasota at 4001 Clark Road.

Commercial contractor Jon F. Swift Construction was awarded the contract for the Legacy Trail extension project, by Sarasota County, with a total project budget of $26.2 million.

►Tembo Enterprises sold a 1.44-acre parcel in Sarasota to Tamiami Trail Apartments for $1.98 million.

Eden Pointe Apartments

Franklin Street closed the sale of Eden Pointe Apartments, a 270-unit housing community located at 955 53rd St. E. in Bradenton, for $30.75 million.

►Atlas Building Co., a commercial construction company headquartered in Sarasota and owned by Andy Stultz, hired Chuck Evans as vice president of operations and appointed Charlie Woehle to vice president of preconstruction services.

►Gulfstream Property and Casualty Insurance appointed Lisa Thompson to general counsel and vice president of legal and compliance.

National homebuilder Taylor Morrison broke ground on an 18-hole golf course at its newest community, Esplanade at Azario, in Lakewood Ranch.

►Sharon Kunkel, president of Wordslinger Marketing & PR and a board member of the Central West Coast chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association, earned professional accreditation in public relations.

►Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Joel Schleicher of Sarasota as chair of the Florida Talent Development Council.

►The Van Wezel Foundation, in Sarasota, elected Jim Travers as chairman of its board of directors.

►The New College Foundation appointed Kevin M. Hughes its associate vice president of advancement.

The law firm of Icard Merrill Cullis Timm Furen & Ginsburg named Patrick Seidensticker an associate in its Lakewood Ranch office.

►Raps Development sold the 20,996-square-foot, 14-unit Beach Club at Anna Maria hotel in Bradenton Beach for $3.7 million.

►Scott Zelniker and Jason Hughes of UBS Financial Services joined forces to form the Zelniker Dorfman Heritage Group, based in Sarasota.

Brunch restaurant Georgie’s Garden Cafe will open a 2,000-square-foot space adjacent to Acropolis Greek Taverna, in the University Town Center, in Sarasota.

►Whiskey Joe’s Bar & Grill has broken ground on its new location along the Manatee River, in Ellenton, and is slated to open in 2020.

►400 SAC, an entity operated by Benderson general counsel David Baldauf, Benderson executive Shaun Benderson and Benderson executive director of finance and operations Stephen Scalione, acquired 400-420 St. Armands Circle for $6.95 million.

►All Faiths Food Bank in Sarasota promoted Michael Ziebell to chief financial officer.

Sarasota attorney Bradley J. Ellis was re-elected to serve as 2020 board chair of the American Hiking Society at the group’s board of directors meeting in Washington, D.C.
