HCA Florida South Tampa Hospital CEO named Honorary Commander at MacDill AFB

Jo-Lynn Brown November 19, 2024

Ned Hill, chief executive officer of HCA Florida South Tampa Hospital, has been inducted into the Honorary Commander Program of the 6th Air Refueling Wing at MacDill Air Force Base.

Hill was selected by Col. Ed Szczepanik, commander of the 6th Air Refueling Wing, to join the program alongside other local civic leaders.

Established in 2009, the Honorary Commander Program fosters collaboration and mutual understanding between MacDill Air Force Base and the Tampa Bay community. It provides opportunities for civic leaders to learn about the base’s mission and the critical role it plays in national defense.

“It’s an honor to be invited to participate in such an important community partnership,” Hill said. “It allows the Airmen to educate community leaders on the vital role they play and empowers us to be good community ambassadors and partners.”

South Tampa Hospital has a long-standing partnership with MacDill Air Force Base, supporting various community initiatives. As part of HCA Healthcare, the hospital belongs to an organization that has been recognized as a Best for Vets Employer by Military Times for five consecutive years.

HCA Healthcare has hired more than 65,000 veterans, active-duty and reserve personnel, and military spouses since 2012, according to a statement.
