Spartan Contracting promotes three executives to support growth

Jo-Lynn Brown August 19, 2025

Spartan Contracting Corporation has promoted three members of its leadership team as the Tampa-based commercial construction company prepares for its next growth phase.

Derrick Huden was named director of business development and pre-construction, Dwight “TJ” Mann was promoted to director of construction and Jay Brando was appointed project executive.

Huden, who joined Spartan in July 2023, previously served as senior pre-construction manager. A state-certified contractor with 16 years of experience, he has streamlined pre-construction workflows and improved cost estimating since joining the company.

Mann, formerly general superintendent, will oversee all field operations in his new role as director of construction. He joined Spartan in 2017 and has advanced through multiple leadership roles. His experience includes renovations of critical facilities, multifamily and retail projects and ground-up construction.

Brando, promoted from senior project manager, will serve as project executive. He has been with Spartan for seven years and has led numerous commercial construction projects. His expertise includes cost control, schedule management and risk mitigation.

“These promotions mark an exciting next chapter for Spartan,” said Scott Kramer, Spartan’s owner, president and chief executive officer. “Derrick, TJ and Jay have each made tremendous contributions to our success and I’m proud to see them step into these new roles to help shape Spartan’s future.”
