After 14 years on South Howard Avenue, SoHo Saloon has shut down effective immediately, as owner Disser Hospitality Investments prepares to reposition the property with a new concept.
Michael Disser, who operates multiple venues in SoHo, announced the closure this week and framed it as a strategic reset tied to the district’s continued evolution.
“Now, the time has come for something new,” Disser said in a statement, thanking the Tampa community for “14 amazing years of memories.”
SoHo Saloon opened in 2012 at 410 S Howard Ave., during a period of heavy nightlife investment in Tampa’s urban core.
Over the next decade, the venue operated through shifting consumer trends, pandemic shutdowns and rising rents, holding space in one of the region’s most competitive hospitality markets.
Reinvestment along South Howard
The shutdown clears the way for a new hospitality concept that Disser said will build on the momentum of his nearby holdings, including Sunset Rodeo, which opened in August, and Howard & Platt, slated to open in May 2026.
“As South Howard continues to evolve, we’re excited to bring Tampa another fresh, elevated hospitality concept,” the statement read. “Our goal has always been to create experiences that raise the bar.”
The company has not disclosed details about the replacement venue, projected investment or reopening timeline.
The closure comes as South Howard continues to see frequent concept turnover and reinvestment among operators.
By clustering venues within walking distance, hospitality groups can share staffing and marketing resources across locations.

In the same announcement, Disser signaled additional updates tied to the former Deck Pizza and Side Piece space, another property connected to the company’s SoHo holdings.
“This rebrand represents a new chapter that is focused on delivering an even better atmosphere, stronger concept and unforgettable nights in SoHo,” the statement said.
SoHo Saloon’s closure removes one of the longer-running operators in a district known for regular turnover. For more than a decade, the venue served as part of a nightlife cluster that helped define South Howard’s post-2010 expansion cycle.
Disser positioned the decision as part of a broader portfolio strategy.
“We look forward to welcoming you back soon with something even bigger and better,” he said.
