Cardel Homes opened its newest Florida community, Worthington, in Sarasota off Palmer Boulevard, a gated community and holds 156 homesites with island or wetland view options.

A Washington, D.C.-based development firm plans to acquire the largely vacant L3 Harris Technologies site in Sarasota and remake the 46½-acre property into a major distribution hub.

►Sara Krusenstjerna has been named development director at Hermitage Artist Retreat in Englewood.

►Mister Sparky has purchased the former location of Manatee River Harley Davidson in Bradenton to serve as the corporate headquarters for its southwest Florida operation; the 18,881-square-foot property is located at 624 67th St. Circle E. and sold for $3 million.

Brian D. Hall was named senior vice president and community president for CenterState Bank’s Sarasota/Manatee market.

Sarasota-based Brilliant Harvest designed and installed the new solar energy system at Girls Inc. of Sarasota County, which will produce approximately 300,000 kilowatt hours of energy a year, and will result in Girls Inc. becoming net-zero energy meaning 100 percent of its onsite energy consumption will be offset.

►University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee’s director of global engagement, Amela Malkic, has been named president of the Mid-Florida chapter of the Fulbright Association.

►The Bradenton Area Convention and Visitors Bureau has hired Anna Pohl as general manager of the Bradenton Area Convention Center and Powel Crosley Estate.

►Amanda R. Kison, a lawyer in the Sarasota law firm of Bentley & Bruning, has achieved board certification in business litigation by the Florida Bar’s Board of Legal Specialization and Education.

►The Sarasota County Board of County Commissioners confirmed Mike Mylett as the new director of Sarasota County’s Public Utilities Department.

►Todd Haner was named the new chief nursing officer, and Stormy Dulovich was promoted to assistant chief nursing officer, at Doctors Hospital of Sarasota.

►Kristi Hoskinson, marketing and community relations consultant for FCCI Insurance Group, was appointed board chair of the Team Tony Cancer Foundation, a Sarasota-based nonprofit organization that provides free peer-to-peer cancer support and resources to cancer fighters, survivors and caregivers in the local community.

►Bulk Nation Holdings, owner of Bulk Nation Foods of Florida, recently purchased Sarasota-based health food chain Richard’s Foodporium.

►Pinnacle Community Association Management in Sarasota has promoted Heather Hamilton to president.

Attorney Stephen D. Rees Jr. has been appointed to the Manatee County Historic Preservation Board.

►Icard Merrill lawyer Drew Clayton was inducted as the 72nd president of the Sarasota County Bar Association.

Florida native Therese “Teri” Berkes has joined the Sarasota office of

Re/Max Alliance Group as a member of Adam Chicoine’s team.

Basketball broadcaster Dick Vitale received the “Payton’s Hero” award from the Payton Wright Foundation for his dedication to fighting pediatric cancer.
