The University of South Florida held a groundbreaking for the Sarasota-Manatee campus’s, first-ever, student center and residential housing complex.
When the building is completed, in time for the fall 2024 semester, as many as 200 students will be able to live on the Sarasota-Manatee campus for the first time.
USF expects the six-story, 100,000-square-foot complex will help the university recruit and retain students, including from out of state and overseas, elevate the on-campus experience for all students and allow the Sarasota-Manatee campus — the only four-year research university in the region — to shed the moniker of being a “commuter college.”
Highlights of the approximately $42 million building, which was approved by the Florida Board of Governors and the USF Board Trustees in 2022, include housing, a ballroom, dining facilities, a bookstore and more.
The USF Sarasota-Manatee campus is located at 8350 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.
