Derek Jeter’s former home gets new plans from Ellison Construction

Ellison Construction is preparing to build a new luxury home on the Davis Islands site once owned by Derek Jeter.

Tampa-based Ellison Construction is preparing to build a new single-family home on the Davis Islands waterfront property once owned by Derek Jeter and later rented by Tom Brady.

The site, one of the most closely watched residential parcels in Tampa Bay, sits on Davis Islands, a neighborhood long associated with legacy wealth, privacy and high-end waterfront homes.

Ellison Construction will lead the project, adding another marquee residential build to a portfolio that includes Hotel Haya in Ybor City, Armature Works in Tampa Heights, Sparkman Wharf, Bayshore’s Stovall House and Oxford Exchange.

“We know this is one of the most-watched pieces of real estate in Tampa Bay and we’re excited to give everyone a first look at the special family home coming to this unique location,” said Casey Ellison, chief executive officer of Ellison Companies. “As a company, we love being involved with projects that have exceptional design, and this is a rare opportunity to showcase world-class architecture on Tampa’s waterfront.”

A sustainability-focused build

Before construction begins, Ellison Construction will partner with Habitat for Humanity of Hillsborough County during the demolition phase.

Habitat crews will assist with removing materials from the existing structure, including cabinets and appliances. Salvageable items will be donated to Habitat’s ReStore locations.

The new home is being designed with environmental stewardship in mind. Plans include rainwater harvesting, maximized natural daylight and a chilled water air conditioning system.

Ellison Construction intends to pursue LEED certification for the residence.

Inside the plans

The approximately 30,000-square-foot home will include six bedrooms, nine full bathrooms, 11 half bathrooms and a gym. Interior design will be led by Annette English of Landry Design Group.

Construction is expected to begin in 2024 and take roughly three years to complete. The future owners have not been disclosed.

Why it matters

High-profile properties on Davis Islands rarely change hands without drawing attention, but this project reflects more than celebrity history.

It underscores continued confidence in Tampa’s luxury residential market, even as construction costs, timelines and sustainability standards evolve.

For Ellison Construction, the build adds another defining project in a neighborhood where architecture, discretion and long-term value matter as much as square footage.
