One Liners Polk: Bank of Central Florida, Publix and more

► Bank of Central Florida was honored with the George W. Harris, Jr. Success in Large Business Award. (Pictured above)

► Florida Polytechnic University announced a new name for its research building, the Barnett Applied Research Center. 

► Berkadia announced it has secured a $53.7 million loan to acquire Lakeside Village, a 460,000-square-foot, open-air lifestyle center, in Lakeland. 

► The Polk County Board of County Commissioners approved plans for the construction of 1,876 single-family homes, as well as commercial property, in Poinciana. 

► Publix Super Markets, based in Lakeland, has signed on to sponsor the Florida Panthers, a Miami-based National Hockey League team. 

► David Bayhan was named director of water utilities for the city of Lakeland.
