USF Athletics names interim men’s basketball coach

University of South Florida Athletics has appointed associate head coach Ben Fletcher as interim head coach, for the 2024-25 men’s basketball season, following the passing of head coach Amir Abdur-Rahim.

Fletcher, promoted to associate head coach in June, has been with USF since 2023 and was pivotal in leading the Bulls to a 25-8 record, and their first regular-season conference title last season. Previously, he worked under Abdur-Rahim at Kennesaw State, helping elevate the Owls to a record 26-win season and an NCAA Tournament berth.

A Troy University alumnus, Fletcher also played on Troy’s 2002-03 NCAA team.
