Polk County Fire Rescue has expanded its specialty operations capacity with the addition of two bariatric ambulances and an aerial drone unit.

► Lakeland Linder International Airport officials announced that the Federal Aviation Administration has approved their proposal to route incoming air traffic over the Polk Parkway – more than three years after the city first submitted plans. 

► Lakeland Senior Hub has selected a 5,000-square-foot location, near the intersection of Harden Boulevard and Beacon Road, that they expect to open next June.

► IDEA Public School Lakeland, a charter school focused on preparing low-income students for college, plans to expand from 410 students to 1,645, by 2026, with support from the city of Lakeland for road and transportation improvements.

The owners of LoveBird Almost Famous Chicken have a new eatery in the works: a honky-tonk-themed, quick-serve burger restaurant and bar called Grievous Angel, at 801 E. Main St., the former location of Unfiltered Lakeland and The Poor Porker.
