Great Places and Spaces: Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital plans Wesley Chapel expansion (RENDERINGS)

Jo-Lynn Brown Published: March 2, 2025 | Updated: February 17, 2025

Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital is set to expand in Wesley Chapel with a new 56-bed pediatric hospital. Construction is slated to begin in 2025, with the facility expected to open in 2027. The new hospital will provide specialized pediatric care.

The Wesley Chapel campus will feature a 16-room emergency center, clinic space, imaging rooms, operating rooms and other support services. The location, near Interstate 75 at Overpass Road, was purchased in early 2024. Hospital officials have since consulted with local physicians and community leaders to shape the project.

“This site will bring specialized pediatric care closer to families who currently have to travel significant distances,” said Justin Olsen, vice president and chief operating officer at Johns Hopkins All Children’s. The new hospital is approximately 50 miles from the institution’s main campus, in St. Petersburg, and aims to serve communities across Pasco, Hernando, northern Hillsborough and nearby counties.

Johns Hopkins All Children’s is now offering outpatient services in cardiology, endocrinology and general surgery, in Wesley Chapel. It also operates an outpatient clinic in New Port Richey and collaborates with HCA Florida Hospital Trinity for newborn care. Plans are underway to open an OB-GYN practice, near State Road 54 and the Veterans Expressway, later this year.

Johns Hopkins All Children’s is also growing its St. Petersburg campus and increasing its urgent care and clinic locations across the region.
