One Liners Polk: Tampa Bay Pickleball Academy, Wheelchairs 4 kids and more


Tampa Bay Pickleball Academy has been approved to open an indoor facility in a warehouse off Gateway Boulevard, in West Lakeland.

Wheelchairs 4 Kids, in partnership with Integrity Home Improvement and People’s Church, has provided a 13-year-old, who has Spinal Muscular Atrophy, with a life-changing wheelchair-accessible shower, transforming his daily care and quality of life.

Polk County Fire Rescue has opened the Eaton Park Fire Station 35, in Lakeland, a $4.5 million, 11,657-square-foot facility whose design is being replicated across the county as part of a plan to open 13 new fire and rescue stations approved by Polk County commissioners.

Market on Kentucky opened at 132 S. Kentucky Ave., Lakeland, next to Frescos Southern Kitchen & Bar.

The Lakeland History and Culture Center, an exhibit gallery with an adjoining history and research room inside the Lake Morton branch of the Lakeland Public Library, debuted its second exhibit, From the Groves, Lakeland’s Citrus Story, showcasing the region’s citrus history and remaining on display for the next two years.
