Publix Super Markets and its customers have raised more than $10 million to support Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, a milestone that reflects decades of community-driven generosity through the annual Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals’ Miracle Balloon campaign, according to a statement.
Each summer, shoppers at Publix locations across the Southeast are invited to donate at checkout, often by purchasing a paper Miracle Balloon for a dollar. Those donations have added up in a big way, helping to provide pediatric programs and services including lifesaving medical equipment, research and patient and family support.
Funds raised at Publix stores in Citrus, De Soto, Hardee, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk and Sarasota counties directly benefit the hospital in St. Petersburg.
“At Publix, giving back is part of who we are,” said Lindsey Willis, media relations manager at Publix. “We’re proud to collaborate with Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital and incredibly thankful to our associates and customers for their continued generosity. Together, we’re helping to build healthier tomorrows for countless children.”
