As Melting Pot marks its 50th anniversary, the fondue franchise has named a new chief executive officer, expanded its leadership team and has plans for franchise growth in key markets, according to a statement.
John “JC” Crawford has been appointed CEO, succeeding founder Bob Johnston, who will remain chairman of the board. Crawford, who joined Melting Pot in 2020, as executive vice president of operations, brings decades of restaurant leadership experience from brands like Ruth’s Chris Steak House and Bennigan’s.
“This is a brand that’s been part of people’s lives for five decades,” said Crawford. “We’re evolving while honoring what makes Melting Pot special, unforgettable guest experiences and a strong franchise community.”
The company also announced internal promotions across its leadership team, including:
Randy Barnett as chief technology officer
Mike Mobley as chief talent officer
Matt Zurcher as vice president of franchise and restaurant operations
Dan Stone as chief business officer
Ana Malmqvist as chief brand officer
Scott Pierce continues as chief financial officer
Melting Pot signed two new franchise agreements in the first half of 2025: one in North Dallas and another in Syracuse with an existing franchise group.
According to the statement, the brand also continues its 20-year partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, having raised over $18 million through its Thanks and Giving campaign.
