Seminole Hard Rock Tampa honored for cultural impact by tribal gaming community

Jo-Lynn Brown July 24, 2025

Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa has received a Cultural Impact Award from Casinos.com, recognizing its charitable work, disaster response and ongoing support for the Tampa Bay community.

Voted Florida’s top tribal casino, by residents across four U.S. states and three Canadian provinces, the resort was one of just seven properties in North America selected during Tribal Casinos Month, a campaign tied to National Indigenous History Month.

“This recognition is a reflection of our team’s ongoing commitment to community, especially during times of crisis,” said Joseph Wagner, vice president and assistant general manager at Seminole Hard Rock Tampa.

The resort opened its doors as a state-approved emergency shelter during hurricanes Helene and Milton, housing more than 1,000 evacuees and partnering with World Central Kitchen to serve over 1,700 hot meals. The Seminole Tribe of Florida and Hard Rock International also donated $1 million in relief to the American Red Cross and other agencies.

The resort’s local giving includes about $50,000 a month through its Change for Change program, benefiting organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay and the Tampa Museum of Art. It also serves as a presenting sponsor for major events like the Gasparilla Pirate Fest, St. Pete Pride and the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Toast to Life Gala.
