Mansions on the Market: Luxury designer’s custom Sarasota condo (PHOTOS)

301 Quay Commons, Unit 611, Sarasota

A waterfront residence in downtown Sarasota’s Bayso Tower has hit the market and it comes with a notable design pedigree.

Unit 611, at 301 Quay Commons, is owned and was fully customized by Wayne Visbeen, a nationally recognized architect and interior designer whose past projects have included work for Martha Stewart, Disney and Victoria’s Secret.

Completed in December 2023, Bayso is part of The Quay, a growing mixed-use district adjacent to Sarasota Bay. Visbeen was the unit’s first owner, purchasing it new and applying his signature style throughout the nearly 2,200-square-foot space.

Inside, the two-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath residence includes a transformed den—now a dramatic walk-in closet—concealed behind a custom-designed, built-in door. The closet features pull-out storage, illuminated shelves for shoes, under-cabinet lighting, a three-way mirror and a hidden passage to the main closet, which includes secret compartments and a motorized jewelry lift.

The design-forward finishes continue throughout the home: textured wallcoverings from Schumacher and Phillip Jeffries, a $12,000 Kohler smart toilet, in the primary bath, and custom millwork, in the great room, including an entertainment center with hidden storage and a built-in fireplace. Natuzzi furnishings, a top-tier audio system and designer lighting complete the space.

Visbeen, who is based in the Midwest, has designed retail spaces across the country, including the Martha Stewart Everyday line for Kmart and stores for Banana Republic and A.K. Rikk’s.
