Industry advocate to lead FlaSEIA

Jo-Lynn Brown September 3, 2025

The Florida Solar Energy Industries Association has appointed Joe Grimes as executive director, tasking the longtime association leader with strengthening member services and expanding state and federal advocacy, as Florida’s solar market continues to grow.

Grimes said he aims to build on Florida’s momentum in clean energy and workforce development. “Solar is not just about powering homes and businesses — it’s about powering opportunity, innovation and resilience across our state,” he said, noting the industry has created tens of thousands of jobs and presents an opportunity to expand Florida’s clean-energy workforce.

Grimes has led state and national associations, including BOMA Florida, BOMA Orlando and the Financial Planning Association of Florida, and has held senior roles at the American Medical Informatics Association and the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine.

Founded in 1977, FlaSEIA represents Florida’s solar industry, promoting high licensure and certification standards and advocating for policies that support the adoption of solar energy statewide. Its offices are located in Sarasota.
