Vuori to open store at Tampa’s International Plaza

Permit filings show Vuori planning a 5,600-square-foot store at Tampa’s International Plaza.

California-based athletic apparel brand Vuori is planning a store at Tampa’s International Plaza, according to building permit filings with the City of Tampa.

Founded in California in 2015, Vuori has expanded across the United States with stores focused on performance apparel and athleisure, typically opening in upscale shopping centers and high-traffic lifestyle districts.

Vuori operates six stores in Florida, including locations in Aventura, Boca Raton, Miami, Coral Gables, Palm Beach Gardens and Sarasota. The Sarasota store at University Town Center is the company’s only other location in the Tampa Bay Area.

The filings show plans to combine three suites at 2223 N. West Shore Blvd. into a roughly 5,600-square-foot store inside the mall. The space would replace a former White House Black Market location and a temporary store.

One permit describes a 5,618-square-foot interior renovation with an estimated construction value of $950,000. City records show the project combining Units 216, 216C and 218.

If completed, the store would place Vuori alongside a cluster of athletic and lifestyle brands already operating at the mall, including lululemon, Alo, Athleta, Fabletics and Rhone, according to the center’s directory.

The potential addition comes as International Plaza prepares for a broader transformation. Simon Property Group announced earlier this year it plans to invest more than $250 million across three flagship shopping centers, including the Tampa property, after acquiring the assets from Taubman Realty Group.

Plans for the Tampa property include a 50,000-square-foot open-air expansion designed to create a walkable outdoor retail environment.

The project also includes updates to Bay Street and interior upgrades to elevate the center’s luxury retail mix.

Construction on the redevelopment is expected to begin in 2026.

What we don’t know

The permit filings for Vuori do not list a construction timeline or a planned opening date. Representatives for Vuori and International Plaza did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Vuori has not confirmed a lease at the property or provided details about the planned location. The permit records also do not include renderings or design plans for the store.
