20 Questions with Eric Jenkins

President and CEO of Achieva Credit Union
Jo-Lynn Brown Published: September 4, 2025 | Updated: August 21, 2025

In April 2025, Eric Jenkins was named president and chief executive officer of Achieva Credit Union. Prior to joining Achieva, he was the CEO of SRP Federal Credit Union, in Augusta, Georgia. He also served as the president and CEO of Education Credit Union, in Amarillo, Texas. He has spent more than 30 years in the credit union industry and is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Economics.

Jenkins has been an active volunteer in all of the communities in which he’s lived, serving on the boards of chambers, educational institutions and nonprofits.

1. College alma mater? Proud Gamecock from the University of South Carolina.

2. Favorite TV show of all time? I have to go with Breaking Bad.

3. Preferred place for a business meeting? I don’t know, yet.

4. Social media time suck of choice?  A sports message board that, in reality, focuses more time on politics and business.

5. What time do you wake up on workdays? At 6:00 a.m., for my first cup of coffee.

6. What’s a life hack you swear by? It sounds funny, but I have a two-foot shoehorn that is a gamechanger.

7. A movie that terrified you as a child?  Showing my age, but it definitely was Jaws. I wouldn’t get in the ocean for over a year.

8. Favorite local restaurant? Bon Appetit. Terrific food and you can’t beat the view.

9. Last book you read?. Recently finished a reread of Red Storm Rising by Tom Clancy. I enjoy good fiction to take a break from reality.

10. Biggest business failure? Not exactly a business failure, but regularly kick myself for taking early positions in a few stocks (Apple, Amazon, Meta, etc.) and selling way too early. Also, wish I had held on to those bitcoins that seemed like a fad at the time.

11. Best concert you’ve ever seen, live?  Eric Clapton, Unplugged, on his birthday. It was incredible.

12. Something you cook really well? I make brunch almost weekly. Scrambled eggs, bacon and hash browns. Simple, but when everything is done right, it is so good.

13. Most famous person you’ve ever met? Interesting question. I’ve met some famous athletes and entertainers, but the most famous person would likely be General Colin Powell.

14. Coca-Cola or Pepsi? Has to be Dr Pepper, right?

15. How do you manage the volume of emails you receive? I try to follow the rule of only touch an email once. When you read it, either reply, delegate or delete.

16. Last thing you ordered from Amazon? I order so often, I had to check, and it was Amazon Basics AAA Alkaline Batteries

17. Most used emoji?  I use the laughing and crying emoji way too often 🤣.

18. Charity you support? There are multiple charities I regularly support. Being new to the market, I am eager to learn more about the local nonprofits that I am sure are doing amazing work. For national charities, I actively support the Boys & Girls Club and the American Heart Association.

19. What is something silly you got in trouble for as a child? I’m old enough that we had to bring paper report cards home for our parents to sign. I signed my mom’s name one time and let’s say it didn’t turn out well.

20. Best advice ever received? To be a lifelong learner.  A consistent focus on learning, reading and exposing yourself to new ideas is essential to grow as an individual.
