37,000 surcharge-free ATMs will be available nationwide after rollout

More than 2,500 new Speedway ATMs will expand the surcharge-free Co-op ATM Network to over 37,000 locations nationwide.

Velera announced it will add more than 2,500 ATMs at select Speedway locations nationwide. The expansion increases the Co-op ATM Network to more than 37,000 surcharge-free machines.

The St. Petersburg-based company said the move strengthens access for credit union members nationwide.

The rollout begins this month in partnership with FCTI, the ATM provider for 7-Eleven and its family of brands, including Speedway and Stripes.

What happened

Velera is expanding its surcharge-free Co-op ATM Network with more than 2,500 new ATMs at Speedway stores.

Once installed, the network will exceed 37,000 surcharge-free locations nationwide and remain the largest issuer-owned surcharge-free network in the country.

The project is being completed with FCTI, which has supported the Co-op ATM Network for more than twenty years.

FCTI operates more than 9,400 ATMs across the United States, placing machines in high-traffic retail locations.

Velera said the expansion helps participating credit unions highlight ATM access through locator tools and customizable marketing resources.

Rob Goodwin, Velera’s vice president of network growth, said the network is based on the credit union principle of “people helping people” and that adding locations strengthens convenient access for members.

According to Velera’s 2025 Eye on Payments report, one in four credit union members uses an ATM weekly.

Among those users, 70% withdraw cash, 35% deposit cash and 29% deposit checks.

What’s happening now

Installation begins this month at select Speedway locations. Velera did not release additional timing or rollout details.

The addition of 2,500 new ATMs expands surcharge-free access for credit union members nationwide.
