4th Annual Monster Energy St. Petersburg Powerboat Grand Prix set for October

The Monster Energy St. Petersburg Powerboat P1 Grand Prix returns for its fourth year, with a weekend of high-speed racing, from October 18-20. The event, held at the downtown waterfront and Pier District, is the finale of the P1 Offshore race season, during which championship titles will be decided.

The weekend kicks off with a Pit Party, on Friday evening from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. at Albert Whitted Park, featuring vendors, food trucks and powerboats on display. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet race teams ahead of the competition. Racing action follows, on Saturday and Sunday, with more than 50 powerboats reaching up to 160 mph, and 30 AquaX jet ski riders competing. Admission to the event is free.

VIP tickets are available for fans seeking an enhanced viewing experience. The VIP area, located at the St. Pete Pier near the Start/Finish line, offers a premium view of the races, live streaming of the event and complimentary food and beverages.

Craig Campbell, director of community and brand engagement for Visit St. Pete-Clearwater, highlighted the significance of the event. “St. Pete-Clearwater is home to major sporting events throughout the year, and we are proud to host this championship race. The Grand Prix brings excitement and visitors to our beautiful downtown area, benefiting local businesses.”

The Grand Prix will be broadcast nationally, and internationally, with coverage on Bally Sports regional networks and live coverage of the Class 1 race on MAV TV. The event is expected to reach a global audience of more than 230 million households.

Proceeds from the event will go toward the P1 Marine Foundation, which supports marine conservation efforts. This year, the foundation has partnered with local charities John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital and Tampa Bay Watch, both of which will receive donations during the Race Awards Ceremony, on Sunday, October 20.

St. Petersburg is the fifth stop in the 2024 P1 Offshore series, following races in Cocoa Beach, Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, Sheboygan, Wisconsin and Sarasota.
