One Liners Polk: Bank of Central Florida, Publix and more

A new scholarship, named for Florida Polytechnic University trustee Frank T. Martin, was established to provide more opportunities to African American students and help them achieve their STEM career ambitions.

► Watson Clinic, based in Lakeland, added physician Yeneneh Desta to the infectious diseases department at Watson Clinic Main and Melissa Kham, a registered nurse practitioner, to work alongside board-certified gynecologic oncologist Richard Cardosi, at the Watson Clinic Bella Vista Building.

► Bank of Central Florida, headquartered in Lakeland, opened a new office at 409 N. Alexander Street, Plant City.

SpringHill Suites by Marriott

►SpringHill Suites by Marriott opened at 511 W Lime St., Lakeland.

► Richard Dempsey, a senior adviser at SVN/Saunders Ralston Dantzler Real Estate in Lakeland, earned a Certified International Property Specialist designation from the National Association of Realtors.

► Publix Super Markets, based in Lakeland, said it will donate $1 million to National Urban League affiliates across the Southeast United States as it continues support for civil rights efforts.

► Farmer Jon’s Popcorn chose Lakeland for its first expansion and is refitting a 7,280-square-foot building it’s leasing at 4000 N. Combee Road.
