Sarasota County’s Public Works, Public Utilities and Capital Projects departments earned the American Public Works Association Accreditation, joining only 15 other public works agencies in Florida to obtain the same designation.

Walmart opened a 1,440-square foot fuel center, located at 5305 Cortez Road West in Bradenton, in the parking lot of the Walmart Supercenter.

Roper Technologies (NYSE: ROP), a technology company based in Sarasota, reached a definitive agreement to acquire Vertafore, based in Denver, in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $5.35 billion.

The Sarasota County Public Hospital Board approved a $65 million plan to replace its aging behavioral health hospital with a new pavilion. Marcus & Millichap (NYSE: MMI), a commercial real estate brokerage firm, sold Sarabay Plaza, a 37,601-square-foot retail property located in Bradenton, for $2.4 million.

Community developer Neal Land & Neighborhoods, in Lakewood Ranch, named Mark Roscoe land development manager.

Realtor Martyn Reece has joined Re/Max Alliance Group in the University Park office.

Mainsail Lodging & Development, in collaboration with Georgia Salaverri of Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate, launched real estate sales at Waterline Marina Resort at 5325 Marina Drive, Holmes Beach.

David Cashen

Joint replacement specialist and board-certified orthopedic surgeon David Cashen with Coastal Orthopedics, a  provider of orthopedics, sports medicine, pain management and more, received the Patients’ Choice Award from the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center.

Sarasota-based commercial construction management firm, Firmo Construction, added Jeff Bryde as superintendent, Brittany Edwards as project manager and Nicole Miskovic as  marketing & communications director.

Lakewood Ranch Medical Center appointed Diego Perilla to chief operating officer.

Abacus Capital Group purchased the Sage at Palmer Ranch apartments in Sarasota for $60.4 million.

Northern Tool + Equipment, a national retailer and leading supplier of high-quality tools and equipment, announced it is expanding its Florida presence by opening its 15th store in the state and first in Sarasota with a new location at 5541 Fruitville Road.
