One Liners Polk: Aldi, Flixbus and more

► Aldi opened a new store, at 4532 S. Florida Ave., in Lakeland. 

Publix Super Markets, based in Lakeland, has committed to giving an additional $4 million in grants to address food availability. 

Polk County commissioners approved Miller Construction Management to oversee the construction of the Polk County Fire Rescue Watkins Road Fire Station, with a budget of about $4.8 million. 

Florida Polytechnic University is adding to its engineering programs by launching two new bachelor’s degrees for students this fall: civil engineering and industrial engineering.

BJ’s, a membership warehouse club, opened at 6360 Grandview Parkway, Davenport.

Polk County’s Roads & Drainage Division received the 2022 James B. Sorenson Award for Excellence in Pavement Preservation. 

Flixbus is planning to stop in Lakeland during its routes between Tampa, Orlando and Miami, with service expected to offer pick up and drop off at Gow B. Fields Park and Ride, located on U.S. 98 near I-4.
