Tampa Bay business news with the region at the center
TBBW follows the businesses, people and decisions moving money, jobs and growth across Tampa Bay.
TBBW Magazine is a hyperlocal business publication covering the Tampa Bay economy. Our readers include executives, founders, investors, professionals and civic leaders who need to know what changed, who made the decision and what happens because of it.
Online, TBBW follows companies, transactions, development, capital, leadership and government decisions with business consequences. The monthly print magazine creates room for deeper reporting on the people, money and pressure behind consequential businesses and institutions.
TBBW reporting is available without a paywall. Local business journalism is more useful when the people affected by a decision can read the reporting around it.
What does TBBW Magazine cover?
TBBW covers the Tampa Bay economy from the ground up: companies buying competitors, developers moving projects forward, employers expanding or relocating, investors putting capital to work, executives changing jobs and governments making decisions that alter how businesses can grow.
Who is TBBW Magazine for?
TBBW is written for people making decisions in Tampa Bay, including executives, founders, investors, entrepreneurs, professionals and civic leaders. The reporting is also available to anyone who wants to understand how the region’s economy is changing.
How often does TBBW publish?
TBBW publishes business news online throughout the week and releases a print magazine on the first of each month. Digital coverage follows change as it happens, while print creates room for deeper reporting and narrative features.
Does TBBW Magazine have a paywall?
No. TBBW’s journalism is paywall free. Readers can access business news, features and event coverage without a subscription barrier.
Reporting the decisions that move Tampa Bay
Daily coverage starts with what changed, then follows the money, ownership, approvals and consequences behind it.
TBBW’s digital newsroom follows business activity across Tampa Bay in real time. The point is not simply that a company issued an announcement or a government held a meeting. The reporting asks what changed because of it.
That can mean tracing who bought a company, how an acquisition was financed, what a development approval permits, why an employer is expanding, where new capital is going or how a public decision changes the economics of a project.
Growth, acquisitions and leadership
Expansions, relocations, acquisitions, executive changes and the operating decisions behind them.
Deals and development
Commercial transactions, construction, major developments, land use and the capital moving projects forward.
Private markets and investment
Private equity, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, financing and the investors changing ownership across the region.
Public decisions with business consequences
Votes, incentives, infrastructure, zoning and other actions that change how companies and projects can operate.
Cover stories built around decisions, pressure and consequence
The person may be on the cover. The reporting is about more than the person.
TBBW cover stories are reported narratives about the people behind consequential Tampa Bay businesses and institutions. Biography matters when it explains the decisions a leader makes now, but it does not automatically become the structure of the story.
Reporting looks for moments when something was at stake: a bet, setback, acquisition, succession decision, financial pressure or change in strategy. Interviews, documents, outside sources and observed detail build the story around what the leader did, what that decision changed and what happened because of it.
How is a TBBW cover story different from a company profile?
A TBBW cover story is not built to recite a company’s history or reproduce an executive biography. The person becomes an entry point into larger questions about leadership, money, growth, risk and consequence.
The strongest stories show how earlier decisions created the conditions a company faces now, then follow what the leader does in response.
How are TBBW cover subjects selected?
Cover subjects are selected for the strength of the underlying story. Leadership position matters, but so do scale, relevance, timing and the decisions surrounding the organization. Prominence alone is not enough. There must be something worth reporting.
How are TBBW cover stories reported?
Reporting begins before the primary interview. TBBW reviews the public record, company history, transactions and other available information, then uses interviews to pursue examples, decisions and contradictions rather than simply collect quotations. Additional sources and documents help test the subject’s account and place the story in context.
