Medical Technology Associates acquires Pittsburgh calibration lab

Cal-Tec Labs, a full-service calibration lab, based in Pittsburgh, was acquired by Medical Technology Associates, in Pinellas Park.

MTA is provider of testing, inspection, certification and calibration and the addition of CTL to its portfolio strengthens both brands’ calibration service offerings, while also expanding capabilities into additional industries.

Headquartered in Greentree, brothers George and Jon Urban purchased Cal-Tec Labs, in 2007, from their father; the pair started working for the company in 1996, when it was known as Quality Techniques.

The Urban brothers, along with the CTL team, will remain in their current roles.

This marks MTA’s fifth acquisition, since January of 2023, when it acquired Energy Plus, a Harrisburg, Pennsylvania-based company. MTA followed with the acquisition of Premier Medical, headquartered in Tennessee, in June of 2023, and Air Filtration Management, based in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, in August of 2023. MTA acquired MicronPA, a calibration services company, based in York, Pennsylvania, in January 2024.
