New College of Florida’s Board of Trustees approved an $11.5 million deal to purchase land from the Sarasota Manatee Airport Authority and agreed to create a new graduate academic program for marine mammal science. 

Gulf Shores Realty announced its 12th consecutive win of the Venice Gondolier’s Best of Venice award for Independent Brokerage. 

The 58th St. Connector, a road extension that was a part of the New College Campus Master Plan that creates an additional entrance and egress point for vehicles to reach College Hall and Cook Hall, has completed construction. 

Balboa, an operating company for Sarasota-based hydraulic cartridge valve manufacturer Helios Technologies, expanded its factory in Tijuana, Mexico. 

JR Evans Engineering, a Fort Myers-based civil engineering firm with a niche in floodplain and stormwater-related engineering, has promoted its Sarasota manager, John Vanni, to an ownership role. 

Richland Capital Holdings, a real estate investment firm, has bought 16 acres, for $5.5 million, in Lakewood Ranch, and will use it to develop an industrial site.

Lakewood Ranch-based Tandem Construction has promoted Brian Leaver, as president, and Kent Hayes, as vice president. 

The Economic Development Foundation of Sarasota County received a $35,000 grant from the Truist Foundation, to support the entrepreneurial landscape in Sarasota County, and empower entrepreneurs with the tools and resources needed for success.

Publix is hiring for a new store, at 9520 Buffalo Road, Palmetto. 

The Pickleball Club, a Sarasota company that develops and operates private, membership-based high-amenity indoor pickleball facilities, is moving forward on a project in Palm Beach County. 

A global technology, three-day conference, the Wi-Fi World Congress and Expo, is being held in Florida, for the first time, later this spring, at the Westin Sarasota. 

The former Yume Sushi restaurant, at 1532 Main St., in downtown Sarasota, has been bought by well-known local restaurateur Michael Evanoff. 

Sarasota-based CPA firm Kerkering, Barberio & Co. has promoted Lori Leutwyler from human resources manager to director of people operations. 

The Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club was sold to Virginia-based Heritage Golf Group, for an undisclosed amount. 

Sales opened for units in the second
tower of The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Estero Bay after sales on the first tower, which broke ground in July, hit the $400 million mark.
