Chris Sprowls and the City of Pinellas Park partner for Sprowls Horizon Sports Park

Jo-Lynn Brown December 11, 2025

The city of Pinellas Park, in collaboration with former Florida Speaker of the House Chris Sprowls, will build Sprowls Horizon Sports Park, expected to open in the summer of 2025.

The creation of this state-of-the-art complex is to support sports tourism in the Tampa Bay area.

“Three years from now, when we’re here, it’ll be filled with kids and families. It will be a destination for people, not just here in Pinellas County, not just in the state of Florida, but for the nation,” said Sprowls.

Plans for the complex include six baseball fields, a full-sized soccer field, an outdoor roller hockey rink and a community plaza. The Sports Park will replace The Youth Park Teen Center, at 4100 N. 66th Avenue, Pinellas Park, which is reopening in a new location, at 7780 60th St., later in 2024.

Tampa Bay area-based Sports Facilities Companies, a development and management firm, will manage the design and construction. SFC will also oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring expert staffing, training, marketing and maintenance.
