Metropolitan Ministries partners with GODIVA this holiday season

Metropolitan Ministries is teaming up with GODIVA to assist families in need, across Tampa Bay, this holiday season; as the community continues its hurricane recovery efforts.

GODIVA is contributing to the effort with a $25,000 donation and plans to distribute chocolate truffle samples to volunteers and families on December 15, when its iconic Pink Truck will visit the Holiday Tent.

The nonprofit’s Holiday Tent aims to provide food and toys to as many as 34,000 at-risk families.

“Thousands of families turn to us for hope during the holidays and something as simple as sharing a piece of chocolate can bring a moment of joy,” said Tim Marks, president and chief executive officer of Metropolitan Ministries. “We are grateful to GODIVA for helping us add a little magic to the holidays and supporting our mission with their generous donation.”

Metropolitan Ministries, which serves more than 90,000 individuals annually, has already distributed 16,000 food boxes and turkeys or hams this season, providing 600,000 meals. However, the need remains high as the nonprofit prepares to assist an additional 17,000 families for Christmas.
