Saddlebrook Resort reveals next phase of $92 million renovation in Wesley Chapel (RENDERINGS)

Saddlebrook Resort has entered the next phase of its $92 million transformation, unveiling new details about renovations to its event spaces, golf courses and guest amenities. The updates mark progress since Mast Capital secured renovation financing late last year.

The 480-acre resort, located about 30 minutes north of Tampa, first announced its renovation plans in 2022, after being acquired by Mast Capital and Amzak Capital Management. In December 2024, the ownership group closed on a $72.5 million loan to support the redevelopment, which aims to reestablish Saddlebrook as a premier destination for leisure, sports and group travel.

Now, with work well underway, Saddlebrook has revealed additional elements of the project including:

Event space renovations: As of February, more than 40,000 square feet of indoor meeting and event space has been updated with new carpeting, chandeliers and technology upgrades. The Royal Palm and Pegasus ballrooms can now be segmented into nearly two dozen breakout rooms. Combined with outdoor venues, the resort offers over 200,000 square feet of space for corporate events, weddings and gatherings.

Pool redesign: The resort’s 500,000-gallon “Super Pool” — named in honor of Tampa’s 1984 Super Bowl — is now closed for a tropical-themed overhaul. The redesign, inspired by a 1960s aesthetic with vibrant pinks and greens, is expected to be completed by October. In the meantime, guests can access the nearby Serenity Pool.

Golf course overhaul: The resort’s two 18-hole courses, originally designed by Arnold Palmer, are being reconfigured into three interchangeable nine-hole courses, under the direction of architect Rees Jones. Each can be combined to create three distinct 18-hole championship layouts. A new 13-acre driving range opened in late 2024.

Full guest room and suite renovations are scheduled for later this year. Plans call for modern finishes, updated kitchens in suites and residential-style comfort throughout the 451-room resort.

Saddlebrook is home to Saddlebrook Prep, the Saddlebrook Golf Academy and the Hopman Tennis Program. In 2024, the resort also became the international headquarters for the Professional Tennis Registry and Professional Pickleball Registry.

Saddlebrook is part of Benchmark Resorts & Hotels and is operated by Pyramid Global Hospitality.
