Will Weatherford and Mike Griffin re-elected to lead USF Board of Trustees

The University of South Florida Board of Trustees re-elected Will Weatherford, as chair, and Mike Griffin, as vice chair, during its June 3 meeting. Both have held their leadership roles since 2021 and will now serve another two-year term.

The university is preparing to begin its next presidential search, with Griffin tapped to chair the search committee, as he did in 2021–22.

“I’m grateful to my fellow trustees for their confidence,” Weatherford said. “USF is poised to reach significant milestones that will take our great university to the next level.”

Griffin added, “This is a pivotal time in USF’s history. I’m proud to serve alongside Chair Weatherford and continue our momentum as a member of the Association of American Universities and as an economic engine for the region.”

Weatherford, managing partner at Weatherford Capital and former Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, brings both political and business experience to the role. Griffin, vice chairman of Savills’ Florida region and a USF alum, also brings institutional knowledge, having served as the university’s student body president and the charter student member of the Board of Trustees.
