Breeze expands Florida service, adding Tampa, Fort Lauderdale flights

Airline boosts Tampa frequency and adds Tallahassee to growing Florida map.

Breeze Airways is strengthening its position in Florida with a July expansion that increases service between Tampa and Fort Lauderdale and adds Tallahassee to its national map.

The Salt Lake City-based carrier announced that Tallahassee and Birmingham, Alabama, will join its network this summer as part of a broader rollout of new and expanded nonstop routes.

Introductory fares on select markets start at $39 one-way under a limited-time promotion.

The most immediate impact for Tampa Bay travelers is frequency. Beginning July 1, Breeze will operate 13 weekly nonstop flights between Tampa International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, with promotional fares starting at $40.

The airline will also introduce twice-weekly nonstop service from Tampa to Atlantic City and Columbus, Ohio.

In South Florida, Breeze is building out a tighter intra-state network. The airline will launch daily nonstop service between Fort Lauderdale and Jacksonville on July 1 and add three weekly nonstop flights to Tallahassee beginning July 2.

Service between Fort Lauderdale, Pensacola and Myrtle Beach will increase to six times per week.

Tallahassee’s inclusion signals a strategic push into secondary and capital markets that often rely on connections through larger hubs.

The city will gain nonstop access to both Fort Lauderdale and Raleigh-Durham, each operating three times weekly.

“For nearly five years, Breeze has been filling a long-overlooked gap in the industry by connecting underserved markets with affordable, nonstop service,” said David Neeleman, Breeze Airways’ founder and CEO. “The addition of these new cities and routes will give even more travelers the opportunity to save precious hours that would otherwise be spent flying through hubs or driving.”

Breeze launched in 2021 with a focus on point-to-point routes between midsize cities.

The airline now operates more than 300 year-round and seasonal routes to 86 destinations across the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean using Airbus A220-300 aircraft. Its model centers on direct service that bypasses major connecting hubs, a strategy that has gained traction as leisure and hybrid business travel reshape route economics.

For Tampa International Airport, the expansion adds seat capacity on one of the state’s busiest corridors and reinforces competition in short-haul markets. For travelers, it means more nonstop options within Florida and to secondary cities along the East Coast and Midwest.
