Major Tampa Bay Golf Course Sold to National Operator

Fox Hollow Golf Club, the 32-year-old Trinity course designed by legendary golf architect Robert Trent Jones Sr., has been sold to a national golf operator that already owns two nearby clubs and plans to begin improvements during its first week of ownership.

Heritage Golf Group announced the acquisition from the Creighton family Tuesday, Oct. 27, adding Fox Hollow to a Tampa Bay portfolio that includes TPC Tampa Bay and The Club at Cheval, both within 10 miles of the property. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The first improvements are expected to begin almost immediately, with Heritage planning to overseed the course ahead of Florida’s busy winter golf season while evaluating longer-term renovations based on the property’s condition and feedback from members. The company has not disclosed a renovation budget or identified additional projects.

The sale comes more than three decades after the Creighton family opened Fox Hollow in 1994, establishing one of the final courses designed by Jones, whose work helped shape championship golf architecture across the country. The par-71 layout, which has five sets of tees, has appeared on Golf Digest’s list of Florida’s top 75 public-access courses.

Beyond the course, the property at 10050 Robert Trent Jones Parkway includes a 15,000-square-foot clubhouse, 25 practice hitting bays, a dedicated chipping green, a practice bunker and a 10,800-square-foot putting green. The semi-private club also offers lessons and clinics led by PGA and LPGA teaching professionals.

With Fox Hollow, Heritage now owns 51 golf and country clubs nationwide, including 14 in Florida, following four acquisitions in the past four months under an ownership group that took control of the company in January 2020. Its Tampa Bay holdings include The Club at Cheval, acquired in April 2025, where Heritage previously announced plans to improve the course, clubhouse and fitness center.

The addition also puts Fox Hollow and TPC Tampa Bay, two courses open to the public, under the same operator, allowing Heritage to market both properties to traveling golfers while offering members access to other clubs through its Heritage Plus Network.

Heritage has not announced any changes to Fox Hollow’s membership pricing, public tee-time availability or semi-private structure, and longer-term investment decisions will depend on the property’s needs, its management team and member feedback.
