One Liners Polk: Encompass Health, Publix and more

► Florida Polytechnic University in Lakeland announced a $2 million gift from trustee Gary C. Wendt (Pictured above) to support the creation of new leadership initiatives for students.

► Chiropractor Jalen Banks began seeing patients at the Watson Clinic Center for Specialized Rehabilitation on East County Road 540A and Lakeland Highlands Road, in Lakeland.

► The GiveWell Community Foundation, which has offices in Lakeland and Winter Haven, named Callie Neslund of Lakeland as its chief operating officer.

► Mark Irby, previously vice president of marketing at Lakeland-based Publix Super Markets, has joined the board of the retailer.

► Florida-REO managing partner Ron Schwartz was named owner’s representative for Nottinghill Davenport, a 132-unit apartment project at 1401 Davenport Blvd., in booming east Polk County.

►  Brenda Ramirez, a Lakeland lawyer, will become a circuit judge in January as she was the only candidate who filed for an open seat on the 10th Judicial Circuit.

►  Encompass Health opened its 50-bed rehabilitation hospital at Harden Boulevard and Oakbridge Parkway, in Lakeland.

►   The Aerospace Center for Excellence, in Lakeland, named Eric Crump its executive director.
