Melanie Williams, senior vice president for operations, southern region, at Frontier, was appointed vice chair of the Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority Board of Directors for 2019.
She was originally appointed to the HART board by Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn in 2018.
“I am looking forward to being even more deeply involved in the ever-changing landscape of transportation in Hillsborough County,” Williams said. “I know the work we do makes a real and lasting impact on the economic health and success of our region.”
In her role as vice chair, Williams will help to lead HART initiatives like continued testing with the Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority the Connected Vehicle pilot project and assist in hiring a new HART chief executive officer.
Williams also serves as a board member for the Tampa-Hillsborough Economic Development Corp. and is chair of the Investor Relations Committee.
In addition, Hillsborough County Commissioner Lesley “Les” Miller was re-elected as chair, along with Tampa City Councilman Mike Suarez as secretary for HART.
