Eckerd Connects CEO to retire after 18 Years

David Dennis, president and chief executive officer of Eckerd Connects, in Clearwater, will retire on June 30, 2025, after 18 years leading the national nonprofit.

Dennis joined Eckerd Connects, in 2007, when the organization was struggling financially. He guided its transformation into a stable, nationally recognized nonprofit and oversaw the merger of four organizations, expanding its workforce development and Job Corps programs. Founded in 1968, Eckerd Connects focuses on education, skills-building and employment to help individuals achieve success.

“When I joined this staff, 18 years ago, I knew we had the opportunity to connect people to their potential,” Dennis said. “Thinking about how far we have come, I am grateful and overwhelmed.”

Under his leadership, the organization grew to serve nearly 24,000 clients, annually, across 22 states and the District of Columbia.

The board has enlisted global consulting firm Korn Ferry to conduct a national search for Dennis’s successor. The process will align with the organization’s recently finalized strategic plan, which outlines its goals through 2029.
