Marcus Greene named Vice Chair of Copperhead Charities, supporting the Valspar Championship

Jo-Lynn Brown July 10, 2025

Veteran Tampa Bay banking executive Marcus Greene has been named vice chair of Copperhead Charities, the nonprofit behind the Valspar Championship PGA TOUR event.

Greene, regional president of Renasant Bank, brings more than four decades of experience in the local financial sector and over 10 years of involvement with the Valspar Championship, including service on the organization’s board of directors.

“Marcus was a logical choice to assume this role,” said General Chair Rondé Barber. “He’s upbeat, insightful and deeply familiar with the tournament and the people who support it.”

Greene’s two-year term aligns with Barber’s leadership as general chair. He succeeds John Astrab, who will continue to serve in a role as past chair.

The 2026 tournament, set for March 16–22, will mark the 25th PGA TOUR event in the organization’s history. The 2025 Valspar Championship, won by Viktor Hovland, generated $1.64 million for 100 Tampa Bay area charities, pushing the cumulative total raised since 1977 to nearly $53 million, according to a statement.

Valspar, a Sherwin-Williams brand, recently extended its title sponsorship through 2030.
