White Castle taps Sarasota firm for 1st fully automated airport kiosk

White Castle partnered with a Sarasota tech firm to launch its first fully automated airport kiosk serving hot Sliders around the clock.

White Castle fans can now grab hot sliders from a machine instead of a counter.

The company teamed up with Sarasota-based Automated Retail Technologies, known as ART, to launch the first fully branded White Castle food kiosk.

It opened at Boston Logan International Airport in Terminal A and runs 24 hours a day with no staff on site.

The kiosk serves the classics people know: the Original Slider, the Classic Cheese Slider, the Cheddar Bacon Cheese Slider and the Chicken and Cheese Slider. Travelers can walk up, press a few buttons and get hot food with almost no wait.

Why White Castle is doing this

White Castle says the goal is simple: meet people where they are.

“White Castle has always embraced innovation while staying true to our heritage,” said Sarah Paulson, the company’s director of retail marketing, innovation and licensing. “Partnering with Just Baked lets us bring our sliders to new guests who want fast, hot and tasty food with no compromise.”

ART sees it the same way.

“White Castle has built a cult following around its legendary sliders for over a century,” said Shawn Marquardt, senior vice president of national accounts. “Now people can get that same experience in places where traditional restaurants do not fit.”

A Sarasota company behind the tech

ART builds automated kiosks that prepare hot meals without on-site labor. Their machines are already used in airports, stadiums and offices.

This White Castle partnership is one of their biggest brand collaborations so far.

The first kiosk is now open in Boston, and more locations are expected soon. Evolvending, the company that placed the kiosk in Logan Airport, plans to continue expanding its automated food options in travel hubs.

For ART and White Castle, this rollout offers a way to serve more customers in more places at any time of day.
