On the Scene: Moffitt’s Business of Biotech takes the checkered flag

Artificial intelligence, cell therapy manufacturing, venture capitalists and immunotherapy were the main topics of discussion at Moffitt Cancer Center’s 14th annual Business of Biotech Conference: Setting the Pace in the Cancer Race. More than 370 people from various biotech companies, economic groups, universities and startups across the globe attended the event.

Interim center director John Cleveland kicked off the conference by welcoming guests and honoring U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Florida) with this year’s Moffitt Momentum Award. The award recognizes outstanding public leaders who have championed Moffitt and are committed to the fight against cancer. Previous recipients of the award include former Florida Gov. Rick Scott, former Florida House Speaker Will Weatherford and former Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn.
