Metropolitan Ministries sends out urgent plea for food donations ahead of Thanksgiving holiday

Metropolitan Ministries is sending out urgent pleas, to the Tampa Bay area community, for help collecting food ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.

“Preparations for distribution to those in need are already underway, and it is only through donations from the community that the Ministries can keep up with the demand for Thanksgiving assistance,” a statement said.

According to the statement, it will take 60 semi-trailer truckloads of food, more than 1 million pounds, to meet the need this year.

The most needed items for the organization’s holiday tent are canned yams, stuffing, cranberry sauce, instant potatoes, canned fruit and turkeys.

Food can be dropped off until November 25 at two locations.

2609 N. Rome Ave., Tampa

3214 U.S. Highway 19 N., Holiday
