United Way Suncoast’s Bemetra Simmons named CEO of Tampa Bay Partnership

Bemetra Simmons has been named president and chief executive officer of the Tampa Bay Partnership.

Simmons will replace Rick Homans in the regional research and public policy organization’s top post on September 27, a statement said.

“After an extensive national search, we found a local leader who possessed the unique skills to succeed in this challenging position,” said Chad Loar, chair of the Tampa Bay Partnership and West and Central Florida regional president for PNC Bank, in the statement.

Simmons currently serves as the chief strategy and operations officer for United Way Suncoast, where she oversees core operations functions, including finance and information technology and community investment for a five-county region.

Simmons previously worked as the Florida Managing Director at Mutual of Omaha Bank and held leadership roles at Wells Fargo and BB&T. She currently serves on the board of commissioners for the Tampa Housing Authority, the executive committee for the Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce and the Community Tampa Bay board.
