USF St. Pete names its next regional chancellor

University of South Florida President Rhea Law has announced that Christian Hardigree will be the next regional chancellor of the USF St. Petersburg campus.

Hardigree, who most recently served as the founding dean of the School of Hospitality at Metropolitan State University, of Denver, will start her new role at USF on July 1, 2022.

“We are experiencing tremendous momentum in St. Petersburg right now and we look forward to seeing it continue under Chancellor Christian Hardigree’s leadership. Between the new Environmental and Oceanographic Sciences Center of Excellence and the fintech hub at the Kate Tiedemann School of Business and Finance, our future is very bright. Chancellor Hardigree is the right leader at the right time, with proven experience in higher education, to build upon our upward trajectory,” Law told Tampa Bay Business and Wealth.

Hardigree’s selection comes after a national search process. USF faculty, staff, students and community members provided feedback at several points during the search process, including town hall meetings with the final three candidates, who each visited the campus and interviewed with Law earlier this month.
