► Grey Bull Rescue, a nonprofit based in Tampa, sprang into action after Hurricane Helene, in both Florida and North Carolina, and during Hurricane Milton, in Florida, to rescue residents and provide life-saving support including generators and water. (Photo above)

► Bloomin’ Brands, the Tampa company behind Outback Steakhouse and several other national chains, named Michael Spanos as its new chief executive officer. 

► Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tampa Bay, in partnership with St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, is building a Ronald McDonald house location, above the neonatal floor, inside St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital, in Tampa. 

► The University of South Florida will become one of the nation’s first schools to feature on-field sponsorship logos, following a new partnership with Publix.

► The University Area Community Development Corporation appointed Erica Moody as its new chief community development officer. 

► Checkers Drive-In Restaurants, the parent of Checkers & Rally’s drive-thru restaurants, named Chris Tebben, who has held leadership posts with Mars, Starbucks, P.F. Chang’s China Bistro and Pizza Hut, as its new CEO. 

► The University of Tampa was included in the Wall Street Journal College Pulse Ranking 2025, among the top 500 undergraduate institutions, by the value they provide to their students.

► Alex C. Young, former Aide to Florida Senator Danny Burgess, has joined Shumaker Advisors, where she will oversee government affairs operations for the state team and manage the administration of the Tallahassee office. 

► Shumaker Partner, Andrew J. Oppenheim was selected as one of 35 individuals to participate in the Associated Builders and Contractors Florida Gulf Coast Chapter’s NEXGEN Leadership Program Class of 2025.

► Gastro MD, in Tampa, added Physician Yadis Arroyo, a board-certified internal medicine specialist and board eligible gastroenterologist, to its practice.

► Shumaker lawyer Michelina Carbone has been named one of four finalists for the CREW Tampa Bay Rising Star Award. 

► Tampa’s Moffitt Cancer Center unveiled a Mobile Lung Screening Unit, the first of its kind in Florida. 

► Manny Rivelo, former CEO of Forcepoint, was named the CEO at Tampa-based Connectwise. 

► Adam Ivey has joined Brandt as senior director of specialty formulations, United States. 

► Advantive, a Tampa-based software provider for specialty manufacturing and distribution businesses, acquired Comsense, a software provider for architectural opening distributors.

► The Facilities Group, a Tampa-based privately-owned facilities maintenance and janitorial services company, appointed Balram “B” Bheodari to its Advisory Board.

► Jose Bello, vice president of community outreach for Encore Bank, was named an Honorary Commander for MacDill AFB 6th Refueling Wing. 

► Peter Chang, senior vice president and chief transformation officer at Tampa General Hospital, has been recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review as part of its 2024 class of “48 Chief Transformation Officers to Know.” 

► The University of Tampa is now calling itself UTampa and introduced three new logos that enhance the traditional UT logo. 

► Calabrio is thrilled to announce that Tampa local Robert Rivera has been appointed as the new chief sales officer. 

► University of South Florida Athletics has been named one of Front Office Sports’ “Best College Athletic Departments” for 2024.


► Scott Arnold, executive vice president and chief digital and innovation officer at Tampa General Hospital, has been recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review as part of its 2024 classes of “46 Chief Digital Officers to Know” and “133 Chief Information Officers to Know.”
