Medability GmbH, a Germany-based medical technology company, has established its United States headquarters in downtown Tampa, leasing 1,600 square feet at 1000 N. Ashley Drive. The company plans to create 12 jobs over the next three years in technical and software engineering, business development and marketing, according to a statement.
“Tampa’s life sciences ecosystem provides a strong foundation for us to grow, connect with industry leaders and contribute to medical innovation,” said Medability Chief Executive Officer Dr. Patrick Wucherer. “The U.S. is a critical market for our surgical simulators, supporting surgeons in advancing their skills and collaborating with the medical technology industry.”
The Tampa Bay Economic Development Council, Select Florida and Colliers International assisted with the company’s relocation.
The company’s location places it within the Tampa Medical and Research District, a developing hub anchored by Tampa General Hospital and the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine. The district also includes USF’s Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation, which focuses on medical training and technology innovation.
