Idaho Hospitals Turn to Clearwater Firm for AI Patient Monitoring

Hospitals across southern Idaho will begin using artificial intelligence to monitor patients and help nurses manage their workloads under a new agreement with Clearwater-based hellocare.ai, which will bring its virtual care technology to St. Luke’s Health System.

The Idaho-based nonprofit plans to deploy the technology across its hospitals and inpatient facilities, allowing clinical teams to observe patients remotely, provide virtual nursing support and monitor patients who need closer attention. The system also includes telehealth services and tools to help staff coordinate care.

For nurses, the technology is intended to provide another layer of support as hospitals manage growing workloads and staffing demands, particularly when patients require ongoing observation.

“Supporting nurses with technology complements the knowledge, skills and expertise they deliver to our patients every day,” said Elizabeth Steger, senior vice president and chief nursing executive at St. Luke’s. “Virtual nursing, virtual sitting, and AI assisted workflows will help enhance patient monitoring, improve collaboration, and further reduce risks throughout a patient’s care journey.”

The agreement adds St. Luke’s to a customer base of more than 100 health systems across the United States for hellocare.ai, which is led by founder and CEO Labinot Bytyqi and is also expanding internationally. Its broader product lineup includes digital whiteboards, patient engagement tools, room signage, ambient documentation and technology for delivering hospital-level care at home.

Neither company disclosed the contract value, the number of facilities covered or a timeline for completing the rollout.
