Florida Poly 2.0

Florida Polytechnic University in Lakeland has released blueprints for the school’s future, consisting of a five-year strategic plan and a vision for a research park adjacent to campus. Titled “Advancing to Excellence,” the plan outlines the academic and economic goals the university will work to attain by 2023. One goals is to influence economic development of the 4,000 acres that surround Florida Poly, creating a research park that brings together industry, academia and government. The strategic plan was approved by the board of trustees, and it identifies priorities based on dominant higher-education trends such as degree alignment, student success, economic development, affordability and efficiency. The plan details how Florida Poly will address these priorities through 16 goals, plus includes a new mission and vision for the university. Another goal is to achieve accreditation by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology by 2020.
