Women now have a majority in Pinellas County Board of Commissioners

When Kathleen Peters was sworn in on November 20, history was made in Pinellas County. 
 
Thanks to Peter’s addition to the board, for the first time ever, four women hold the majority on the Pinellas County Board of Commissioners, 2018 Chairman Kenneth Welch said during the swearing in ceremony Tuesday.
 
Janet C. Long, Karen Williams Seel and Pat Gerard, also sit on the board, along with their male colleagues, Charlie Justice, Dave Eggers and Welch.
 
Seel will be the incoming chair in 2019
 
The 2018 election was historic with women running for and getting elected to office.
 
The U.S. House of Representatives elected a record number of women, with at least 90 women expected to head to Washington, D.C. in January.
 
For Pinellas County, women are leading the charge, starting now.
