Symphonic partners with Boston-based technology company

Symphonic, based in Tampa, has announced an official partnership with Boston-based virtual and physical tech company Formless.

In this partnership, Symphonic will be able to share Formless’ Share Protocol, an engine for Web3 applications and digital content streaming services.

As an alternative to traditional streaming services, like Spotify and Apple Music, artists using the technology can control the access terms to their music, including the streaming price, and receive payments, instantly, while splitting royalty revenues with collaborators and their audiences, according to a statement.

Symphonic is a music technology and services company, offering a proprietary content management and distribution platform, global royalty collection and split payments and label services to independent labels, managers and artists.

Symphonic’s current artists and alumni include Imogen Heap, Tokischa, Doechii, Surf Mesa, DJ Muggs of Cypress Hill, Daddy Yankee, Nicky Jam, The 502’s, El Alfa, Juan Luis Guerra, Onyx, Pierre Bourne, Nick Murphy/Chet Faker, Rob Garza of Thievery Corporation, CloZee and Freddie Gibbs, among many others.

Symphonic was established by Jorge Brea in 2006.
